The brief for this piece was much more representational than is typical for me:
to produce, in felt, an interpretation of a black & white photograph of a
woman diving down into the sea.
I used a combination of a felted background and a digital image of the swimmer
applied to the felt, then enhanced the piece with threads and gold paint.
I had intended to then cover the piece with a fine layer of wool, but the result
was sufficiently ethereal (and slightly ambiguous - is she a mermaid?) not to need that final layer.
